Stream Restoration
Many of the streams in the Shenandoah Valley have been channelized, stripped of vegetation, and now serve as conduits for erosion and runoff. A restoration process will stabilize the banks and allow a healthier ecosystem to develop. We partner with engineers to rebuild stream channels, creating stable banks, pools, riffles, and runs that follow nature’s meandering curves.
Our native plantings help to hold the soil in place, slow runoff, filter pollutants, and provide important habitat for aquatic and terrestrial wildlife.
Other benefits include reduced flooding, more abundant fish, and cleaner water.
